Become a Tutor:

The Literacy Council provides volunteer tutors with the professional education, materials and ongoing support you will need to teach basic reading, writing and English language skills. When you help someone to read or to speak English, you enable that individual to take advantage of a new world of opportunities – at home, at work, and in our community. Help us bring our mission to life.

Questions? Please contact Bonnie Juarez, the Literacy Coordintor.

“Tutoring is so satisfying, I love it! I’m learning as much as my student.” ~ Betty

“Alexandre used to call me mentor and now I am teacher. Both have a special meaning and are said with respect. This is a testimony to the work we are all doing here. I always find myself building up The Literacy Council. ~ Todd

“Ashanti is doing awesome! At the beginning of the year she didn’t know how to sound out any words, but today she read me a whole book! I’m really proud of her.” ~ Brian, an I READ Volunteer
