Our READy to Learn program involves support programs for parents with infants, toddlers and preschoolers to initiate early literacy skills. They promote parents reading with their children and helping them to become their child’s first teacher. Each child receives a free book for their home library as well as Parent Packets with information and activities for families to do at home.
English as a Second Language
Instruction is offered to adults in small classes or with a tutor. Lessons cover real life language skills needed to communicate at a child’s school, on the job, at the doctor’s, and other everyday situations. We currently have adult learning representing 18 different languages enrolled at The Literacy Council.
We also offer services for adult learners which include agency-to-agency referral assistance.
